The state* prioritizes full technical support for mobile fire teams. *This is about . In March, the defense company Rosomak S.A. signed another contract with the South Korean corporation KIA for the supply of 375 specialized vehicle chassis for equipping mobile fire teams (MFTs). The agreement provides for the purchase of vehicles in the KIA KLTV Cab Chassis Truck 4P version, which will be upgraded to a short-range air defense system. The contract was signed as part of the SAN program, which we discussed. The Korean chassis will become a unified mobile platform for various elements of the air defense battery. They are planned to be equipped with: 54 FIELDctrl Ultra radars (detection); 108 FIELDctrl Follow radars (tracking); 54 launchers for 70-mm APKWS guided missiles (supplied by the Americans to , used to intercept Iranian drones in the Middle East); 54 launchers for MEROPS interceptor drones; 36 multi-barrel 12.7-mm WLKM machine guns; 54 modifications for electronic warfare systems. FOR REFERENCE: The KIA KLTV chassis has a 4x4 wheel arrangement, a 225 hp diesel engine (500 Nm of torque), Level II protection according to STANAG 4569, independent suspension, and a central tire inflation system. A total of 18 air defense batteries are planned, each with three KLTV-based firing platoons and one support platoon. This structure will allow forces to be dispersed across the terrain, quickly adapt to the situation, changing combat positions, and maintaining centralized command and control through the battery command post. It is important to note that this is not a one-time purchase of vehicles. Poland has long been not only purchasing weapons in huge volumes, but also trying to localize production. The Rosomak plant in Siemianowice Śląskie is currently being modernized to in-house welding and assembly of bodies of the Korean platform, which is called in Poland. Previously, a similar case was implemented with the Rosomak APC (based on the Patria). This will make it possible to repair large quantities of damaged equipment and independently replace losses in the medium term, without relying on vulnerable sea lanes. Recently, we have seen large-scale attacks. Poland recognizes the importance of creating a mobile, layered air defense system that functions not thanks to local initiatives. The state is fully equipping fire groups with equipment, combining various counter-drone capabilities. It is precisely this ability to quickly adapt to new enemy tactics, close gaps, and zero out enemy attempts to bypass drones’ main air defense systems that makes mobile task forces an effective and extremely inconvenient/unpredictable (for the enemy) combat unit. Currently, the organization of mobile fire teams is tied to the most effective weapon of the air defense system—horizontal connections of caring people. We have the experience and the capabilities, but it's time to move to a new level of quality.
